What’s in a name?

Quantum Financial is a name that has been more than 750 years in the making.

We don’t take our name from the 2008 James Bond movie ‘Quantum of Solace’ starring Daniel Craig nor the late 1980’s TV series, Quantum Leap, in which Scott Bakula leapt back and forth in time – handy for predicting markets! (although ‘Quantum Leap’ is the title of a profile of Quantum Financial’s Claire Mackay in Professional Planner Magazine). We also claim no link to (nor even a basic understanding of) the intricacies of Quantum physics.

Our founder Bill took the name “Quantum Financial” from a quote from a poem written by the 13th century philosopher Thomas Aquinas.

The quote in Latin from the poem is ‘Quantum potes, quantum aude’ and it means ‘As much as you are able, dare to do’.

This reflects the attitude to excellence, ethics and professionalism that Bill wanted at the very heart of everything that Quantum Financial and it’s people did.
